Dates – Popular among dried fruits is taken as a snack, and also used to prepare desserts, snacks, pickles and even side dishes. Dates are widely used in preparation of cakes. Dates available in the dry form contains 61–68 percent sugar by mass, and can be stored for a long time. Dates are highly symbolic in Muslim, Christian, and Jewish religions, and interestingly it was cultivated in Indus Valley thousands of years ago.
