Kunji Pathiri – Kozhi Nirachath (Chicken Filled / Stuffed Chicken with Kunji Pathiri)

Ingredients for Kozhi Nirachath with Kunji Pathiri (Chicken Filled / Stuffed Chicken with Kunji Pathiri):

1. Chicken – 1, full

2. Rice flour – 1 cup

3. Water – As required

4. Salt – For taste

5. Onions – 2, big

6. Vinegar – 1 tsp

7. Green chilli – 1

8. Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tsp

9. Chilli powder – 2 + 1 tablespoons

10. Turmeric powder – 1 + ½ tsp

11. Garam masala – ½ tsp

12. Curry leaves & coriander leaves chopped – 1 tsp

13. Oil – As required

How to prepare Kozhi Nirachath with Kunji Pathiri (Chicken Filled / Stuffed Chicken with Kunji Pathiri)?

1. Clean chicken thoroughly, its interior parts too.

2. Marinate chicken using chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and vinegar.

3. Add pathiri powder to boiling water after adding salt and prepare dough similar to Idiyappam.

4. Make small balls and prepare Kunjipathiris (small pathiris).

5. Steam cook all those small pathiris using a steam cooker.

6. Pour oil in a pan and sauté ginger – garlic paste.

7. Add onion, chopped ginger and leaves, mix well and close the lid.

8. When colour changes slightly, add turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala.

9. Add cooked Kunji Pathiris to this gravy and mix well.

10. When it is fully cooked, full these pathiris inside chicken.

11. Tie the open parts, legs and arms using a thread.

12. Deep fry chicken in low flame till chicken is well cooked.
