Pineapple – Yellow coloured delicious fruit, apart from eating raw and making juices and smoothies, it can also be used to prepare desserts and side dishes. It’s also added to main course dishes like biryani, to bring a sweet flavour & enhance digestion. Pineapple Pachadi, Pulissery, Kichadi etc are some of the traditional side dishes, which form a part of Kerala cuisine & sadyas. In most cases, curd is added to these dishes. Payasam, Ice Cream, Puddings, Cake, Tart – Pineapple is frequently used to prepare numerous sweet desserts too. To add an interesting fact – Asia’s largest pineapple market is in the town of Vazhakulam, Ernakulam district, Kerala. This town is also known as ‘Pineapple City’.
