Ingredients for Unakka Chemmeen – Padavalanga Thoran:
- Dried prawns heated and cleaned – 1 cup
- Coconut oil – ½ cup
- Mustard seeds – 2 small spoons
- Green chillies split into 4 – 1 cup
- Ginger, finely chopped – 3 small spoons
- Garlic chopped – 2 small spoons
- Shallots, finely chopped – ½ cup
- Curry leaves – as needed
- Green mango cut into pieces – 2 cups
- Snake guard cut into pieces – ½ cup
- Coconut grated – 4 cups
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Fenugreek powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – As required
How to prepare Unakka Chemmeen – Padavalanga Thoran?
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
- When it sputters, add ginger, green chillies, garlic, shallots, and curry leaves. Sauté well.
- When it’s sauted, add snake guard pieces along with green mango pieces.
- Add the grated coconut and prawns as well.
- Add turmeric powder, fenugreek powder, and salt along with half a cup of water and cook for 10 minutes on a low flame.
- Your Unakka Chemmeen – Padavalanga Thoran is ready to serve. It is the best combo for boiled rice and tapioca.
