
Ingredients for Pearlspot Moli (Karimeen Moli):
1. Pearlspot (Karimeen) – 2
2. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
Lemon juice – 1 small spoon
Salt – For taste
3. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons
4. Mustard – 1 small spoon
Curry leaves – 1 stem
5. Ginger chopped into matchstick-like structures – 1 big spoon
Garlic crushed – 1 small spoon
6. Green chillies – 4 or 5, chopped
Onions chopped – 1 cup
7. Tomato – 1, chopped
8. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
Pepper powder – 1 small spoon
9. Second extract of coconut milk – 2cups
10. First extract of coconut milk – 1 cup
11. Salt – For taste
Lemon juice – 1 small spoon
12. Curry leaves, tomato chopped – To decorate
How to prepare Pearlspot Moli (Karimeen Moli)?
1. Clean the fish and keep aside.
2. Mix ingredients no: 2 together and marinate the fish.
3. Allow fish to rest for 15 minutes and shallow fry in coconut oil.
4. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard and curry leaves.
5. Sauté ginger and garlic, followed by green chillies and onions.
6. When onions turn soft (before it changes colour), add tomato.
7. Add turmeric powder and pepper powder, followed by the second extract of coconut milk.
8. When it boils, add the fish and cook on a low flame.
9. When the fish is cooked well, add the first extract of coconut milk.
10. Gently shake the pot and add salt and lemon juice.
11. After one minute, turn the flame off.
12. Decorate with curry leaves and tomato.
13. Serve hot with rice or appam.
