Madurakizhangu Bonda (Sweet Potato Bonda)

Ingredients for Madurakizhangu Bonda (Sweet Potato Bonda):

1. Coconut scrapped – ½ cup

    Green chillies – 2

    Ginger – 1-inch piece

    Salt – For taste

2. Lemon juice – 1 small spoon

    Sugar – A pinch

3. Sweet potato, boiled and smashed – 1 cup

    Salt – For taste

4. Gram flour – ½ cup

    Rice flour – 1 big spoon

5. Salt – For taste

    Asafoetida powder – ¼ small spoon

6. Oil – As required

How to prepare Madurakizhangu Bonda (Sweet Potato Bonda)?

1. Mix together ingredients no: 1 and blend it once (similar to chutney). No need to make it a fine paste.

2. Add lemon juice and sugar to it and mix well.

3. Add sweet potatoes and salt and mix again to prepare small balls.

4. Press each ball gently to form cutlet shapes, and place a little chutney mixture inside it.

5. Cover it again and make balls again. Continue the process for whole sweet potato mixture.

6. Add a little water to ingredients no: 4 to prepare thick batter and also add salt and asafoetida.

7. Add one small spoon of oil and beat the contents well.

8. Dip each sweet potato ball in this batter and deep fry in hot oil.

9. Serve hot.
