    Chilli powder – 1 tablespoon
9. Coconut – ½
10. Coconut oil – 1.5 big spoons

How to prepare Fish Roast in Aluva Style?

  1. Cut the fish into big pieces.
  2. Extract thick coconut milk from the grated coconut.
  3. Wash Gambooj 2-3 times and boil it, adding 2 cups of water.
  4. Add fish along with ingredients 3 and allow it to boil. Then let it cook in a slow flame.
  5. Heat a pan and add oil. Sauté green chillies and curry leaves. When its colour changes, add chopped onion.
  6. A little time later, add chopped tomatoes and sauté them well.
  7. Add a pinch of salt along with ingredients 8 and sauté again.
  8. Exchange fish from the pot to the serving plate and add the remaining water to the sautéed onion. But don’t add gambooj pieces this time.
  9. When this water boils well, add coconut milk and cook for a while to make it thick. Add coconut oil and turn the flame off.
  10. Add this mixture on top of the fish pieces.
N.B: While preparing fish curry, if you use gambooj water instead of its pieces, then the fish pieces won’t break quickly when cooked.
