
Ingredients for White Gourd Halwa:
1. White Gourd – 800 gm
2. Sugar – 1 cup
3. Ghee – 1 or 2 tablespoons
4. Saffron – ¼ tsp
5. Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
6. Fried cashews and raisins / Chopped almonds and pista – As required
How to prepare White Gourd Halwa?
1. Remove the skin and seeds of the ivy gourd and grate its flesh using a grater.
2. Cook grated ivy guard in a pan on medium flame till it turns soft. It takes around ½ an hour.
3. When water content is almost absorbed, add sugar.
4. Keep stirring till the sugar completely melts.
5. Add ¼ tsp saffron to it and mix again.
6. When halwa turns thick, reduce the flame to low and cook for 10 more minutes.
7. Add ghee and continue cooking till halwa separates from the edges.
8. Add cardamom powder, cashews, and raisins, mix well, and turn off the flame.
9. Serve halwa once it is well-cooled.
