White Gourd Halwa

Ingredients for White Gourd Halwa:

1. White Gourd – 800 gm

2. Sugar – 1 cup

3. Ghee – 1 or 2 tablespoons

4. Saffron – ¼ tsp

5. Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp

6. Fried cashews and raisins / Chopped almonds and pista – As required

How to prepare White Gourd Halwa?

1. Remove skin and seeds of ivy gourd and grate its flesh using a grater.

2. Cook grated ivy guard in a pan in medium flame till it turns soft. It takes around ½ an hour.

3. When water content is almost absorbed add sugar.

4. Keep stirring till sugar completely melts.

5. Add ¼ tsp saffron to it and mix again.

6. When halwa turns thick reduce the flame to low and cook for 10 more minutes.

7. Add ghee and continue cooking till halwa separates from edges.

8. Add cardamom powder, cashews and raisins, mix well and put off the flame.

9. Serve halwa once it is well cooled.
