Vijay Suriya – Kannada actor best known for the television series, Agnisakshi

Vijay Suriya is a popular Kannada small screen actor, who has also done a few Kannada movies. As an actor he is best known for playing the lead role of Siddhartha, Sannidhi’s husband in TV drama, Agnisakshi during 2013 – 2019. After trying his luck in Sandalwood, he moved towards small screen and shot to fame with this single role. He also hosted the show, Comedy Talkies in 2018, and currently appears in TV series, Premaloka since 2019. He played lead roles in Kannada films – Crazy Loka (2012), Ishtakamya (2016) and Sa (2016), with met with box office failures. He has been a successful ramp model too.

He was a ramp model before taking acting career

Vijay Suriya was born in Bangalore, Karnataka in 1990. His younger days were spent in Bangalore, where he pursued his schooling and graduation. To pursue a career in acting, he moved to Mumbai and enrolled at Whistling Woods Academy. As a child artist he made a brief appearance in 2004 Kannada soap, Uttarayana. In 2012 he marked his big screen debut with Crazy Loka in a parallel lead role, playing Ravichandran’s son and made an impressive performance. He was paired with Harshika Poonacha.

TV soap Agnisakshi was a major turning point of his career

Soon after his debut film, he got his big break through TV soap Agnisakshi in 2014, and rose to fame with this single role. He played the role of a successful businessman who gets stuck in an unhappy married life, and his screen pairing with Vaishnavi Gowda was well received. He was busy with his career as a ramp model when the lead role of Agnisakshi was offered to him and he accepted. The show was an instant hit, and he played the lead role for nearly 6 years. He quit the show after the 5-year contract came to an end.

Though he played male lead in a couple of films in 2016, it was the TV soap Agnisakshi, which made him a household name among Kannada audiences. He also bagged Anubandha Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role four times in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Needless to say he is one of the top male actors of Kannada television in the second half of the decade of 2010s. Kaddu Mucchi and Lucknow to Mumbai are his recent Kannada movies. He got married to Chaitra in 2019, and has entered a family life.

Vijay Suriya – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. As a ramp model he has worked with fashion guru, Prasad Bidapa before joining television.

2. He played the memorable role of Ravichandran’s son in his debut flick, “Crazy Loka” and was nominated at SIIMA award for Best Debutant Male.

3. He started his acting career as a child actor through 2004 TV drama, Uttarayana, and it’s his single performance as a child artist.

4. He bagged 5 Anubandha television Awards, which include four best actor awards including a hat-trick and Best Pair award along with Vaishnavi.

5. He was a contestant of the dance reality show, Thaka Dhimi Tha Dancing Star in 2014 and got eliminated in the 4^th week.       

6. He married Chaitra. S, a software engineer based in Bangalore, on the Valentine’s Day of year 2019, and both the families knew each other for 9 years. As the families had good relationship, it was Vijay’s mother who took the relationship forward, and thus Vijay had an arranged marriage with the blessings of both families.
