prawns dry fry - Naadan Chemmeen Ularth recipe

Ingredients for Prawns Ularth (Naadan Chemmeen Ularth):

  1. Cleaned prawns – ½ kg
  2. Chilli powder – 1 small spoon
    Coriander powder – 1 small spoon
    Pepper powder – A pinch
    Onions chopped fine – 1.5 big spoons
    Ginger chopped fine – 1 small spoon
    Garlic (small-sized) – 20 cloves
    Pot tamarind – 3 or 4
    Curry leaves – A little
    Salt – For taste
    Coconut pieces, chopped into ¼ inch rectangular pieces – ¼ cup
  3. Coconut oil – 1 big spoon
  4. Mustard – 1 small spoon
  5. Onions sliced lengthwise – ¼ cup
  6. Curry leaves – A little

How to prepare Prawns Ularth (Naadan Chemmeen Ularth)?

  1. Mix cleaned prawns with ingredients no: 2, adding sufficient water. But never overcook prawns.
  2. When the water content is fully absorbed and the masala coats the prawns, turn off the flame.
  3. Heat oil and sputter mustard.
  4. Sauté sliced onions till they turn crispy.
  5. Add curry leaves, followed by cooked prawns along with masala.
  6. Keep sautéing for a few moments till the prawn masala turns dry.
  7. Serve hot.
