Vikramaditya Shukla – South Indian film actor best known for ‘Whistle’ and ‘Manasu Palike Mouna Raagam’

Vikramaditya Shukla is a former South Indian film actor who predominantly worked in Tamil films. He is originally from Maharashtra. As an actor, he is best known for his debut flick – ‘Whistle’, a campus film released in Tamil and also his debut Telugu flick, ‘Manasu Palike Mouna Raagam’.  He appeared in 5 more Tamil films, all in supporting roles, both positive and negative shades, and none of them were box office hits. Nenjathai Killadhe, Tholaipesi, Chinna, Nanbanin Kadhali and Bambara Kannaley are those films.

Vikramaditya Shukla hails from Maharashtra. Yavatmal near Mumbai is his hometown. He completed his engineering studies in Mumbai. He started his career as a model, which helped him to bag first break in south Indian films. His first film, Whistle (2003) had a delayed release. Though the campus film was noticed for its fresh story, it mostly received mixed reviews. However it was an average grosser, and gave him a good break in film industry. His second film, Chinna (2005) in a supporting role, opened to unfavourable reviews. His negative role in Bambara Kannaley was panned by the critics.

He tasted success with his next release, Manasu Palike Mouna Raagam, which also marked his Telugu debut. From there on, he received only flops. Nenjathai Killadhe was his last film to hit theatres, a decade back in 2008. After staying in film industry for a short period, when he failed to get good roles in films, he took a break.

Vikramaditya Shukla – Some interesting and less-known facts


1. He acted in 7 south Indian films till now, of which he received success in one Tamil and one Telugu film each. Interestingly both these films were his debut works.

2. After his impressive debut in Telugu cinema through Manasu Palike Mouna Raagam, he never appeared on Telugu screen.   

3. His movie Nanbanin Kadhali, a triangular love story was originally made with the name, Cleopatra in 2005. When it had a delayed release in 2007 its name was changed.

4. His co-star Sherin also made her screen debut with Whistle.

5. Books, music, swimming and dancing are his hobbies.
