Mutton Chops (Mutton Chaaps)

Ingredients for Mutton Chops (Mutton Chaaps):

1. Mutton – ½ kg, cleaned and chopped

2. Oil – As required

3. Onions – 1 big, chopped

4. Ginger chopped – 1 small spoon

    Garlic chopped – 1 small spoon

5. Curry leaves – As required

6. Chilli powder – 2 small spoons

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

    Pepper powder – 2 small spoons

7. Vinegar – 1 small spoon

8. Garam masala powder – Prepared after heating 1 small piece cinnamon, 4 cloves, 4 cardamom and 1 small spoon cumin seeds

How to prepare Mutton Chops (Mutton Chaaps)?

1. Heat oil and sauté onions.

2. When onions turn brown, add crushed ginger and garlic.

3. Add curry leaves too.

4. Add chopped mutton pieces to it and stir well.

5. Add turmeric powder and chilli powder.

6. Add pepper powder and mix the contents.

7. Add vinegar, followed by garam masala powder.

8. Cook the contents till mutton pieces are well cooked.

Note: This side dish can be served aside rice, chapatti or appam or any other main course dish of your choice. Slightly heat the masala before you grind. If so it enhances the taste of curry. You can also place the spices under direct sun and crush it just before use.

Poricha Pathiri and Mutton Chaaps

Ingredients for Mutton Chaps (Recipe 2):

1. Mutton – 500 gm

2. Turmeric powder – 1 small spoon

    Coriander powder – 3 small spoons

    Fennel powder – 2 small spoons

    Salt – For taste

    Garam masala powder – 1 small spoon

3. Coconut oil – 50 milli

4. Cinnamon – 1 piece

    Cardamom – 5

    Bay leaf – 2

5. Onion – 5 big, chopped fine

    Green chillies – 12, crushed

    Ginger – 30 gm, chopped fine

    Garlic – 30 gm, chopped fine

6. Thick coconut milk – 200 milli

    Pepper crushed – 1 small spoon

7. Coriander leaves, curry leaves – As required

How to prepare Mutton Chaps (Recipe 2)?

1. Cook mutton, adding ingredients no: 2 and sufficient water.

2. Heat oil and add ingredients no: 4, followed by ingredients no: 5 and sauté well.

3. Add cooked mutton.

4. Add coconut milk and crushed pepper and a little coconut oil on top.

5. Sprinkle a few curry and coriander leaves.
