 Kumarakam Fish Curry
 

Ingredients for Kumarakam Fish Curry:

  1. Freshwater fish – 1/2 kg
  2. Ginger – 1 piece
  3. Garlic -8
  4. Green chillies – 5
  5. Shallots – 100 gm
  6. Chilli powder – 4 tablespoons
  7. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
  8. Coconut oil – 4 tablespoons
  9. Fenugreek powder – 1 tablespoon
  10. Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
  11. Kudampuli (Gambooj) – 4
  12. Salt – as needed
  13. Coriander powder – 2 tablespoons

Method of preparation of Kumarakam Fish Curry

  1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. 
  2. Add ingredients 2-5 and cook well.
  3. Add ingredients 6-10 along with a little water.
  4. Cook it for a few minutes till it becomes dry.
  5. Add kudampuli, salt and sufficient water needed for cooking.
  6. Boil it for a while, and add fish pieces.
  7. When it’s cooked, and the water is almost absorbed, you can see a layer of oil on its surface.
  8. Add curry leaves and turn the flame off
