Kumarakam fish curry

 
Kumarakam is famous for house boats and traditional fish dishes served in boats.
 
 

Ingredients for Kumarakam fish curry

  1. Fresh water fish – 1/2 kg
  2. Ginger – 1 piece
  3. Garlic -8
  4. Green chillies – 5
  5. Shallots – 100 gm
  6. Chilli powder – 4 table spoon
  7. Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
  8. Coconut oil – 4 tablespoon
  9. Fenugreek powder – 1 table spoon
  10. Curry leaves – 2 stalk
  11. Kudam puli (Gambooj) – 4
  12. Salt – as needed
  13. Coriander powder – 2 table spoon

Method of preparation

  1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. 
  2. Add ingredients 2-5 and cook well.
  3. Add ingredients 6-10 along with a little water.
  4. Cook it for a few minutes till it become dry and add kudampili, salt and sufficient water needed for cooking.
  5. Boil it for a while and add fish pieces.
  6. When it’s cooked and water almost absorbed you can see a layer of oil on its surface.
  7. Add curry leaves and put the flame off
