
Ingredients for Dried Prawns Chutney Powder (Unakka Chemmeen Chammanthi Podi):
- Dry prawns – 250 gm
- Coconut – 1, grated
- Shallots – 200 gm, chopped
- Pot tamarind – 1 small piece (it should not be excessive)
Chilli powder – 1 big spoon
Garlic – 2 cloves
Salt – As required - Oil – 50 gm
- Mustard – 1 small spoon
- Red chillies – 2, split
How to prepare Dried Prawns Chutney Powder (Unakka Chemmeen Chammanthi Podi)?
- Clean dried prawns and roast without adding oil. Never over-fry it.
- When it cools, make a powder of prawns.
- Mix ingredients no: 4 and powder it.
- Heat oil and fry red chillies.
- Add chopped shallots to it and sauté it well.
- Add the grated coconut and sauté it well.
- Add other powdered ingredients to it and fry for three more minutes.
