Banana Floret Thoran - Vazhakoomb Thoran recipe

Ingredients for Vazhakoomb Thoran (Banana Floret Thoran):

1. Banana flower (Vazhakoomb) – 1

2. Salt – For taste

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

3. Coconut oil – 4 big spoons

4. Mustard – ¼ small spoon

    Rice – ½ small spoon

    Curry leaves – 1 stem

    Red chillies – 2

5. Coconut grated – 80 gm (5.5 big spoons)

How to prepare Vazhakoomb Thoran (Banana Floret Thoran)?

1. After removing the middle white corn portion, finely chop the purple parts.

2. Keep the inner tender portion as such.

3. Add salt, turmeric powder, and a big spoon of oil.

4. Rub the contents well and keep aside.

5. Heat 2 big spoons of oil and temper mustard seeds and rice.

6. Add banana florets, add salt, and sprinkle a little oil.

7. Close the lid and cook the contents on a low flame.

8. Once done, open the lid and add grated coconut.

9. Add a big spoon of coconut oil and turn off the flame.

10. Decorate with chillies and curry leaves and serve.
