Stuffed Pomfret (Stuffed Avoli)

Ingredients for Stuffed Pomfret (Stuffed Avoli):

1. Pomfred (Avoli) – 1, Medium sized

2. Salt – For paste

    Ginger-garlic paste – ½ small spoon

    Lemon juice – 1 small spoon

3. Egg – ½, beaten

    Curry leaves – 1 stalk, chopped

    Coriander leaves chopped – 1 big spoon

    Rice flour – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – 1/2 small spoon

    Chilli powder – 1/2 small spoon

For filling:

4. Oil – For frying

5. Onion chopped fine – 1 big spoon

    Garlic – 1 clove, chopped

6. Curry powder – 1/2 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – 1/2 small spoon

7. Small prawns – 8, cleaned

8. Coconut milk powder – 2 small spoons

9. Pepper powder – ½ small spoon

    Salt – For taste

How to prepare Stuffed Pomfret (Stuffed Avoli)?

1. Clean fish, remove spines and cut into pieces.

2. Mix ingredients no: 2 to prepare the masala.

3. Make a cut (similar to a pocket) in the middle portion of each fish piece and marinate the fish pieces.

4. Take ingredients no: 3 in a bowl and beat the contents well.

5. Dip each fish piece in this egg mixture and wrap it well.

6. Heat oil and sauté onions and garlic.

7. When it turns golden brown, add curry powder and turmeric powder.

8. Add prawns to it and sauté for a few moments.

9. Add coconut milk powder and sauté again.

10. Add salt and pepper and mix it well.

11. Stuff all fish pieces using this prawn filling.

12. Using a thread tie each fish piece twice, so that filling won’t come out.

13. Heat a flat sauce pan and pour oil.

14. Deep fry fish pieces till they are well fried.

15. Flip both sides to cook fish pieces evenly.

16. Once fried, remove thread from each piece and serve hot.
