Rava Appalam recipe

Ingredients for Rava Appalam:

  1. Rava without granules – 3 cups
  2. Dalda (Vanaspati) – ½ kg
  3. Sugar – 800 gm
  4. Coconut oil or Dalda – as needed
  5. Salt – a pinch

How to prepare Rava Appalam?

  1. Add sufficient salt to the rava and sprinkle water. Then mix it well and keep aside for ½ hour.
  2. Place this mixture in a traditional stone grinder; crush it well, adding enough coconut oil.
  3. Then make small gooseberry-sized balls.
  4. Add sugar to a flat pan and boil it well. Remove its impurities and keep it aside hot.
  5. Make small papads (like we make chappati) from rava balls.
  6. Heat dalda in a frying pan and fry each pappad, flipping both sides.
  7. Put papads one after one in the hot sugar solution for a while, and then spread them on a plate. Allow it to cool.
