Rajma Chaval

Ingredients for Rajma Chaval:

1. Rajma (Red kidney beans) – 1.5 cups

2. Garlic – 5 cloves

    Cloves – 2

    Green cardamom crushed – 2

3. Sunflower oil – 2 small spoons

4. Garlic – 2 cloves

    Ginger chopped – 1 small spoon

5. Onions – 2, chopped

6. Red chilli powder – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Salt – As required

    Garam masala powder – ½ small spoon

7. Tomatoes – 2, small

8. Coriander leaves chopped – A little

9. Ghee – 1 big spoon

How to prepare Rajma Chaval?

1. Wash kidney beans and soak overnight adding water.

2. Pressure cook beans adding ingredients no: 2. Use the same water for cooking rajma.

3. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ingredients no: 4.

4. Add chopped onions and sauté well, followed by ingredients no: 6.

5. When the contents are well fried, add 2 spoons of water.

6. Add chopped tomatoes and sauté again till an oil layer appears.

7. Gently smash cooked rajma using hands and add to masala.

8. Mix the ingredients well and add a little water.

9. Boil the curry well.

10. Transfer the curry to pressure cooker again and cook till first whistle.

11. When pressure drops to zero, pour a little ghee and add chopped coriander leaves too.

12. Serve hot with cooked basmati rice.
