Masala Chicken recipe

Ingredients for Masala Chicken:

  1. Chicken – 1 kg
  2. Oil – 5 tablespoons
  3.  Onion chopped – 3 cups
  4. Curry leaves – ½ cup
  5. Tomato chopped – 2 cups
  6. Coriander leaves chopped – 1 cup
  7. Garlic chopped – 1 tablespoon
  8. Ginger – 1 piece, chopped
  9. Couscous – 1.5 tablespoons
  10. Mustard – ¾ spoon
  11. Cumin seeds – 1 spoon 
  12. Pepper – 1 tsp
  13. Chilli powder – 1 spoon
  14. Coriander powder – 3 tablespoons
  15. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  16. Water – ¾ cup
  17. Coconut grated – ½ cup

How to prepare Masala Chicken?

  1. Make a fine paste of garlic, ginger, mustard, cumin seeds and pepper seeds.
  2. Add a little water to chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder and prepare a paste.
  3. Grind coconut and couscous to a smooth paste.
  4. Heat oil in a cooker and fry onions till they turn golden brown.
  5. Add curry leaves, salt, ginger-garlic paste and sauté for three minutes.
  6. Add curry powder paste and chicken and sauté for 5 minutes.
  7. Add tomatoes and sauté for 5 more minutes.
  8. Add ½ cup of water and mix the contents well.
  9. Pressure cook the contents.
  10. When the pressure drops to zero, add coconut paste and sauté for 5 more minutes.
  11. Finally, add coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
