
Ingredients for Drumstick – Dry Prawns Theeyal (Muringakka – Unakka Konj Theeyal):
- Coconut oil – As needed
- Shallots chopped – ½ cup
Drumstick – 10-15, cut into pieces
Curry leaves – A little - Coconut grated – 1 cup
- Dry prawns cleaned – ½ cup
- Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon
Chilli powder – 2 small spoons
Coriander powder – 1 small spoon - Tamarind – Gooseberry-sized, soaked for half an hour, and squeezed
- Salt – As needed
How to prepare Drumstick – Dry Prawns Theeyal (Muringakka – Unakka Konj Theeyal)?
- Heat oil in a vessel and sauté ingredients no: 2.
- When shallots are sauteed well, turn off the flame and close the lid.
- Heat a little oil in a pan and fry the coconut.
- When the water content is fully gone, add dry prawns and mix well.
- When the coconut is fried well, add ingredients no: 5 and turn off the flame.
- Allow it to cool completely, and then grind to a smooth paste.
- Add coconut-prawn paste to the drumstick.
- Also add salt and tamarind water.
- Cook the contents till the gravy thickens.
