Stress and tensions – a tight schedule of modern busy life gives a man nothing else. Change of lifestyle and excess dependency on electric and electronic equipment may create memory problems in the long term. Are we so lazy to remember even simple things? Why do we store everything in a computer’s memory and a mobile’s memory card instead of giving a little exercise to the brain? Too much dependency on computer memory can surely make your brain lazy, leading to memory-related problems and diseases. That’s the reason why Alzheimer’s disease and similar problems are common these days. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease kill brain cells, leading to memory loss and eventual brain death.
Memory Problems – Reasons and Solutions

Why do we lose memory suddenly?
If blood circulation to the brain is blocked suddenly due to some reasons, a person’s memory may fade or disappear quickly. Hypertension, diabetes, and excess fat deposits are the common reasons behind it. When memory fades quickly, he may ask himself, “Who am I? Where am I?” He may feel tired and dizzy associated with it. He may even feel difficulty speaking.
In most cases, they may regain memory of old events while most recent events disappear from their minds quickly. Within 24-48 hours, he may remember everything. Lost old memories will be restored first. But those things that happened during his problem stage may not be restored completely. In 20% cases, this temporary loss may happen again. People who have migraines and fits have similar memory issues.
Just take care of these simple things
1. If you are a victim of short-term memory loss, do medical checkups to know if you have diabetes, cholesterol or high blood pressure.
2. Eat less-fat food. No need to avoid non-vegetarian food. But give preference to protein-rich food.
3. Do regular exercises every day.
4. Show interest in learning new things. Even learning a new computer game or a new trick in chess can refresh your memory a lot.
5. Reading and dairy writing can improve your memory.
6. Sleep well every day at least for 6-7 hours.
7. Quit smoking and drinking completely.
8. Try to memorize mobile numbers, addresses and names of friends and relatives instead of storing them in mobiles or writing them down in diaries. While you sit free, try to remember those names and numbers one by one.
How to improve memory power?
It’s quite common that a student may forget his hard-learned lessons at memory hall, or a candidate fails to impress his interviewer on a very important job interview. Through certain scientific methods, it’s easy to improve memory power. Just try these simple techniques.
1. Before you go to sleep, read once more the lessons. Reading just before going to sleep retains lessons in the memory a little bit more. Also, take short breaks in between while studying or working. It refreshes you better and gives you more concentration. You can do some leisure work, such as walking in the garden, which refreshes your mind. But avoid the use of television and the internet during relaxation hours.
2. Induce your 5 senses in whatever way you can, and you can do it as a daily process. It improves your memory power. Make reading a habit, at least 3 or 4 pages. Enjoy the perfume of a few flowers to refresh your mind and soul, and try different types of food to induce your taste buds. Just look around and watch the beautiful scenery. Enjoy some light music and relax. Classical music has magical healing effects to induce the brain and improve its memory power.
3. Move your eyes to either side. It improves your concentration. As the left and right parts of the brain do different things, such an activity improves the communication between the two brain halves. It improves memory in return.
4. Try to link two or more things together. It helps to memorise things better. You can connect events and also link them with your favourite things or interesting hobbies. If so, such memories won’t fade easily. You can easily memorise years of your study lessons with the year of birth of your dear ones or the date of some of the happy incidents of your life.
5. If you are a student, the place you have chosen to study and the circumstances are most important. Studying and memorising are not short of meditation, and hence you need a peaceful place to ‘meditate’ free of all tensions and noises. If the mother watches TV, she should arrange a separate room for her kid to study his lessons, away from the noise. A kid should be able to concentrate while studying. Then only his brain captures those lessons.
6. Healthy food can also improve your memory power. Include milk and milk products at least 5 days a week in your children’s diet. It improves memory power. Soya milk, spinach, broccoli, beans, and small fish are memory-supplying foods.
