Dhaanya Thoran (Grains Thoran)

Ingredients for Dhaanya Thoran (Grains Thoran):

1. Green gram – 1/2 cup

2. Horse gram – ½ cup

3. Cowpeas – ½ cup

4. Bengal gram – 1/4 cup

5. Soya beans – ¼ cup

6. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

7. Salt – For taste

8. Mustard – ½ tsp

9. Black gram dal – 1 tsp

10. Red chillies – 3, broken

11. Curry leaves – 2 stalks

12. Coconut scrapped – 1 cup

13. Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

14. Green chillies – 3

15. Shallots – ½ clove

16. Garlic – 3 cloves

17. Coconut oil – As needed

How to prepare Dhaanya Thoran (Grains Thoran)?

1. Soak one day full, ingredients 1-5.

2. Strain excess water from grains and tie in a cloth as bundle. Next day, sprouts appear.

3. Cook the grains adding turmeric powder and salt.

4. Crush ingredients no: 12-16 and add to cooked cereals.

5. Steam this coconut mixture.

6. Temper ingredients 8-11 in coconut oil and add to Dhaanya thoran.

7. Keep cooking till water content is fully absorbed.

8. You can use this thoran with rice or conjee.
