Aloo Bhindi Saalan

potato okra curry

Ingredients for Aloo Bhindi Saalan:

1. Potato – ½ kg

2. Okra – 100 gm

3. Oil – 3 big spoons

4. Cumin seeds – ½ small spoon

    Fennel seeds – ½ small spoon

5. Onion – 2, chopped

    Ginger chopped thin lengthwise – 2 small spoons

    Garlic chopped fine – 2 small spoons

    Green chillies, end split – 2

6. Coriander powder – 2 small spoons

    Chilli powder – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Salt – For taste

7. Tomato – 2, chopped

8. Garam masala powder –1/4 small spoon

9. Corainder leaves chopped – 1 big spoon

How to prepare Aloo Bhindi Saalan?

1. Peel of the skin of potato and cut into 4 or 6 pieces.

2. Cut the ends of okra and slightly fry in oil. They should not lose their green colour.

3. Heat oil and sauté cumin and fennel seeds.

4. Add ingredients no: 5 and sauté well.

5. Add ingredients no: 6 and fry till raw smell of masala goes out.

6. Add potato and 1 cup water and cook it in low flame.

7. When it’s 3/4th done, add tomatoes and fried okra.

8. Mix well and sprinkle garam masala powder.

9. Put off the flame and decorate with coriander leaves.
