Tomato Rice

Ingredients for Tomato Rice:

1. Jeerakasala rice – 1 cup

2. Cardomon – 2

    Cloves – 2

    Cinnamon – 1 piece

    Cumin seeds – ½ small spoon

    Ghee – 2 small spoons

3. Tomatoes – 2, finely chopped

4. Water – 2 cups

    Salt – As required

5. Coconut oil – 2 small spoons

How to prepare Tomato Rice?

1. Wash the rice and keep aside.

2. Crush together ingredients no: 2.

3. Heat ghee in a pan and sauté the crushed ingredients with chopped tomatoes.

4. When the contents are well cooked, add two cups of water.

5. Mix the contents well, add rice and cook your tomato rice in low flame.

6. When it’s done, add 2 spoons of coconut oil and serve hot.

My tip: You can also try with Sambar curry powder to bring a twist to tomato rice.

Tomato Rice (Thakkali Choru) – Recipe 2

Ingredients for Tomato Rice (Thakkali Choru) – Recipe 2:

1. Basmati rice – 2 cups

2. Oil – 4 big spoons

3. Mustard – 1 small spoon

4. Onions – 1, cut lengthwise

    Red chillies – 8, cut into 2

    Curry leaves – 2 stems

    Garlic – 2 cloves, chopped

5. Tomato – 6, chopped

6. Chilli powder – ½ small spoon

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

7. Boiling water – 4 cups

    Salt – To taste

How to prepare Tomato Rice (Thakkali Choru) – Recipe 2?

1. Wash rice and remove water content completely.

2. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.

3. Sauté ingredients no: 4 till get well fried.

4. Add tomatoes and sauté again.

5. When it’s done, add chilli powder and turmeric powder.

6. Keep sauting till a layer of oil appears on the surface.

7. Add rice and sauté for 5 minutes.

8. Add boiling water and salt, and mix the contents well.

9. Close the lid & cook rice till it’s done.
