Kilikoodu (Chicken Vermicelli Nest)

Ingredients for Kilikoodu (Chicken Vermicelli Nest):

1. Potato – 2

2. Big onion – 1, chopped

3. Chicken cooked and smashed (boneless) – 250 gm

4. Green chillies – 2, chopped

5. Garlic – 5 cloves, chopped

6. Ginger – 1 piece, chopped

7. Curry leaves and coriander leaves – As needed

8. Salt – As needed

9. Garam masala powder – ½ tsp

10. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

11. Chilli powder – 1 tsp

12. Vermicelli (Semiya) – 1 cup, broken

13. Coconut oil – 2 table spoon + 1.5 cups

14. Egg – 1

How to prepare Kilikoodu (Chicken Vermicelli Nest)?

1. Heat a frying pan and pour oil.

2. Sauté ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves.

3. Add chopped onions and salt, and sauté till onions turn tender.

4. Reduce the flame.

5. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder and garam masala powder, and sauté well.

6. Add smashed chicken and potato and mix well.

7. Take off from flame and allow to cool.

8. Take egg in a bowl, add salt and beat it well.

9. Make small balls from chicken-potato mixture and make it slightly flat.

10. Dip each one in beaten egg and roll over vermicelli to coat it well.

11. Deep fry each ball in hot oil.

Note: You can also use boiled eggs for the filling. Boil eggs, and cut each one into small pieces. While preparing the balls, you can place an egg piece inside it. Cover it well with chicken-potato mixture and make it slightly flat. Then dip in beaten egg, roll over vermicelli and deep fry in hot oil. You can also bring a twist to this recipe by placing one boiled quail egg inside each.
