Rajma Curry (Red Kidney Beans Curry)

Ingredients for Rajma Curry (Red Kidney Beans Curry):

1. Rajma – 1 cup

2. Salt – 2 small spoons

    Water – 3 cups

3. Oil – 4 big spoons

4. Onions sliced thin lengthwise – 1.5 cups

5. Ginger-garlic paste – 2 small spoons

6. Tomato chopped fine – ¾ cup

    Tomato paste – 3 big spoons

7. Coriander powder – 3 small spoons

    Turmeric powder – 1 small spoon

    Kashmiri chilli powder – 2 small spoons

    Cumin seeds fried and powdered – ½ small spoon

    Amchur powder – 2 small spoons

    Garam masala powder – ½ small spoon

    Salt – As required

8. Coriander leaves chopped fine – 2 big spoons

How to prepare Rajma Curry (Red Kidney Beans Curry)?

1. Soak rajma in water for 6 hours.

2. Drain the water and cook it in a pressure cooker adding sufficient water and salt.

3. Heat oil and sauté onions, followed by ginger-garlic paste.

4. When onions turn brown colour, add chopped tomatoes and tomato paste.

5. Sauté the ingredients for one minute and then add powders.

6. Keep sauting till the raw smell of powders goes out and add ½ cup water.

7. Stir it well and continue cooking till a thin layer of oil appears on its surface.

8. Add cooked rajma, mix it well and reduce the flame.

9. Cook rajma for next 10-15 minutes and slightly smash it using a spoon.

10. If needed, you can add extra salt and water at this stage.

11. Decorate with coriander leaves and serve.
