Ragi Kozhukkatta

Ingredients for Ragi Kozhukkatta:

1. Ragi flour – One cup

    Rice flour – Half cup

2. Water – Two cups

    Salt – A pinch

    Oil – One tablespoon

3. Grated coconut – Two cups

     Sugar/jaggery – As needed

How to prepare Ragi Kozhukkatta?

1. Blend the first set of ingredients and keep aside.

2. Boil water with salt and oil.

3. Add this to the first ingredient and mix well, then knead into a smooth dough without lumps.

4. Make small balls from this dough, flatten on the palm, and shape into small discs using fingers.

5. Combine the coconut and sugar/jaggery and keep aside. This is the filling used for Ragi Kozhukkatta.

6. Place this mixture in the centre of the flattened dough and shape into balls to fully cover the filling.

7. Place in the appachembu plate (of a steamer) and steam cook till the balls are cooked perfect.
