Paavakka – Thakkali – Pazha Maanga Curry (Bittergourd – Tomato – Mango Curry)

Ingredients for Paavakka – Thakkali – Pazha Maanga Curry:

1. Bitter gourd – 2, cut into pieces

     Onion – 1 big, finely chopped

     Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

      Salt – For taste

2. Coconut oil – 1 big spoon

3. Cumin seeds – ½ small spoon

     Mustard – ½ small spoon

     Curry leaves – 1 stalk

4. Ginger chopped – ½ small spoon

     Garlic – 4 big cloves

5. Tomato – 2 medium, cut into very fine pieces

     Well-ripen mango fruit – 1, cut into pieces

     Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp (or as per paste)

     Garam masala powder – ½ small spoon

     Salt – As required

     Coriander powder – ½ small spoon

6. Lemon juice – 1 big spoon

How to prepare Paavakka – Thakkali – Pazha Maanga Curry?

1. Use an earthen pot to cook ingredients no: 1. Cook well.

2. Heat oil in a pan (Cheena Chatti) and sauté ingredients no: 3.

3. Add ginger and garlic to it and sauté again.

4. Add cooked bitter gourd to it, ingredients no: 5, mix well and cook again with lid closed.

5. Check salt and put the flame off.

6. Add lemon juice to your Pavakka curry just before you serve.
