A few Avocado facts to know
Avocado is nicknamed ‘Butter fruit’. Do you know why? It’s because so soft like butter. It is oval in shape and contains fat and energy. The inner portion of this fruit is cream colour, and like a nutmeg, it has a big single seed at centre. Seed is brown in colour, and its weight ranges between 300 gm and 700 gm.
A few more simple Avocado facts
1. Avocado is high in fats and 77% of its calories come from fat. However avocado pulp has monounsaturated fats which reduces bad cholesterol and improves the level of good cholesterol.
2. As avocado is rich in fibre, it reduces cholesterol level and also good for constipation.
3. As they are rich in anti-oxidants, it fights aging and also helps in body defence mechanism.
4. They are rich in minerals and other healthy components.
5. Wrap avocado in paper similar to banana. They ripen easily.
6. Cut avocado into two halves and remove skin and seeds. Then cut those halves into small pieces for use.
7. Add a little lemon juice, salt and pepper powder to avocado. It tastes excellent.
8. You can slice avocado into pieces and use as salad.
9. Avocado is smashed and used to prepare Mexican dish, Guacamole, used as dip and spread.
10. You can smash avocado and use as topping for ice creams and milk shakes.
