
Ingredients for Mussel Sour Gravy (Kallummakaya Pulinjaar):
- Mussels (Kallummakaya/chippi) – 250 gms
- Less-sour buttermilk – ½ cup
- Thick coconut milk – 1 cup
- Green chillies cut lengthwise – 4
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
- Garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Fenugreek fried & powdered – 1 tsp
- Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon
- Fenugreek – 1 tsp
- Salt, curry leaves – As needed
- Rice flour (used for Pathiri) – 2 tsp
How to prepare Mussel Sour Gravy (Kallummakaya Pulinjaar)?
- Wash the mussels and add half a cup of water.
- Also add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and green chillies and cook it.
- Mix rice flour in a little coconut milk.
- Add this to the remaining coconut milk, and pour to cooked mussels.
- Boil the contents on a low flame.
- Add buttermilk, keep stirring and bring it to a boil. Turn off the flame.
- Heat oil and fry fenugreek and curry leaves.
- Add this to the curry and sprinkle fenugreek powder.
