Mussel Sour Gravy (Kallummakaya Pulinjaar)

Ingredients for Mussel Sour Gravy (Kallummakaya Pulinjaar):

1. Mussels (Kallummakaya/chippi) – 250 gms

2. Less-sour buttermilk – ½ cup

3. Thick coconut milk – 1 cup

4. Green chillies cut lengthwise – 4

5. Chilli powder – 1 tsp

6. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp

7. Garlic paste – 2 tsp

8. Fenugreek fried & powdered – 1 tsp

9. Coconut oil – 1 tablespoon

10. Fenugreek – 1 tsp

11. Salt, curry leaves – As needed

12. Rice flour (used for Pathiri) – 2 tsp

How to prepare Mussel Sour Gravy (Kallummakaya Pulinjaar)?

1. Wash mussels and add half cup water.

2. Also add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and green chillies and cook it.

3. Mix rice flour in a little coconut milk.

4. Add this to remaining coconut milk, and pour to cooked mussels.

5. Boil the contents in low flame.

6. Add buttermilk, keep stirring and bring it to boil. Put off the flame.

7. Heat oil and fry fenugreek and curry leaves.

8. Add this to curry and sprinkle fenugreek powder.
