Muringakka – Maanga Curry (Drumstick – Mango Curry)

Ingredients for Muringakka – Maanga Curry (Drumstick – Mango Curry):

1. Drumstick – 2, cut lengthwise

2. Salt – As required

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

3. Green mango – 1 small, cut into pieces

    Curry leaves – 1 stalk

4. Coconut – ½, scrapped

    Green chillies – 4

    Shallots – 4

    Garlic – 3 cloves

    Curry leaves – 5 nos:

5. Coconut oil – 3 big spoons

6. Mustard – ½ small spoon

    Shallots – 4, chopped

    Curry leaves – 1 stalk

    Red chillies – 3

How to prepare Muringakka – Maanga Curry (Drumstick – Mango Curry)?

1. Cook drumstick adding sufficient turmeric powder, salt and water.

2. When it is 3/4th done, add mango pieces and cook well.

3. Make a fine paste of ingredients no: 4 and add to cooked vegetables.

4. Mix it well and when the contents get well heated, take off from flame.

5. Heat oil and temper ingredients no: 6.

6. Add to curry and mix well before you serve.

Ingredients for Muringakka – Maanga Curry (Drumstick – Mango Curry) Recipe 2:

1. Sambar dal (pigeon pea) – 3-4 handful

2. Green mango – 2 or 3, chopped fine

    Drumstick/cucumber/ivy gourd – ¼ kg, chopped after peeling off skin

3. Chilli powder – 3 small spoons

    Turmeric powder – 1 small spoon

4. Salt – For taste

5. Coconut – ½, scrapped

    Cumin seeds – 1 small spoon

6. Coconut oil – For taste

7. Mustard – ½ small spoon

   Red chilli – 1, big

   Fenugreek – ¼ small spoon

8. Curry leaves – 2 stems

How to prepare Muringakka – Maanga Curry (Drumstick – Mango Curry) Recipe 2?

1. Cook dal in pressure cooker.

2. Cook ingredients no: 2 & 3, adding sufficient water.

3. When it’s half cooked, add salt and cooked dal.

4. Cook vegetables in low flame.

5. Make a fine paste of coconut and cumin seeds.

6. Add this paste to cooked vegetables and put off flame, when it starts to boil.

7. Heat oil in a pan and fry ingredients no: 7.

8. Add curry leaves too, and then pour this oil to your curry.

9. Serve with rice and pappadam.

Note: You can prepare this dish using jackfruit seeds too.
