
Ingredients for Bitter Gourd Theeyal (Paavakka Theeyal):
- Bitter gourd – sliced thin lengthwise, 1 cup
- Salt – As required
Tamarind juice – Extracted from gooseberry-sized
Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon - Coconut – ½, grated
Red chillies – 5, chopped
Coriander – 1 big spoon
Curry leaves – 1 stalk
Shallots – 6, chopped
How to prepare Bitter Gourd Theeyal (Paavakka Theeyal)?
- Cook ingredients no: 1 and 2, adding a sufficient amount of water.
- Fry ingredients no: 3 in a kadai till golden brown.
- Make a fine paste of the coconut mixture without adding water.
- Add this paste to the bitter gourd and mix well.
- When the contents boil well, take them off the flame and serve.
