Bitter Gourd Theeyal (Paavakka Theeyal)

Ingredients for Bitter Gourd Theeyal (Paavakka Theeyal):

1. Bitter gourd – sliced thin lengthwise, 1 cup

2. Salt – As required

    Tamarind juice – Extracted from gooseberry sized

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

3. Coconut – ½, scrapped

    Red chillies – 5, chopped

    Coriander – 1 big spoon

    Curry leaves – 1 stalk

    Shallots – 6, chopped

How to prepare Bitter Gourd Theeyal (Paavakka Theeyal)?

1. Cook ingredients no: 1 and 2 adding sufficient amount of water.

2. Fry ingredients no: 3 in a kadai till golden brown.

3. Make a fine paste of coconut mixture without adding water.

4. Add this paste to bitter gourd and mix well.

5. When the contents boil well, take off from flame and serve.
