Koon Vazhattiyath (Mushroom Sauted)

Ingredients for Koon Vazhattiyath (Mushroom Sauted):

1. Mushroom – 250 gm

2. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

3. Mustard – 1 small spoon

4. Curry leaves – 1 stem

    Red chillies – 2 or 3, broken

    Garlic – 2 or 4 cloves, chopped

5. Shallots – 1 cup, chopped

6. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

7. Salt – For taste

8. Fennel seeds powdered – ½ small spoon

    Tomato – 1, cut into square pieces

How to prepare Koon Vazhattiyath (Mushroom Sauted)?

1. Clean mushrooms and cut into pieces.

2. Heat coconut oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.

3. Sauté ingredients no: 4, followed by shallots till they turn golden brown.

4. Add mushrooms and turmeric powder.

5. Reduce the flame and sauté for a few minutes.

6. Add salt and sprinkle a little water.

7. Close the lid and cook in low flame till mushrooms are cooked.

8. When it is done, stir the ingredients and add fennel powder and tomato pieces.

9. Keep sauting till the tomatoes are done and mix well with mushrooms.

10. Put off the flame and decorate with green chillies and curry leaves.

11. Serve hot with rice or any other main course dish of your choice.
