Duck Pirattiyath recipe

Ingredients for Tharavu Pirattiyath (Duck Pirattiyath):

  1. Duck – 1 kg
  2. Vinegar – 2 big spoons
    Salt – For taste
    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
  3. Coconut oil – 50 milli
  4. Mustard – 1 small spoon
    Curry leaves – 1 stem
  5. Onions – 100 gm, chopped
    Shallots – 100 gm, chopped
  6. Ginger – 1 piece, chopped
    Garlic – 1 cluster full, chopped
    Green chillies – 5, chopped
  7. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
    Coriander powder – 1.5 big spoons
    Garam masala powder – 1 big spoon
  8. Tomato – 125 gm, chopped fine
  9. Pepper powder – 1 big spoon
    Salt – For taste

How to prepare Tharavu Pirattiyath (Duck Pirattiyath)?

  1. Clean the duck, cut it into pieces and wash it using a little vinegar.
  2. Marinate the duck using ingredients no: 2.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, and fry the duck. Keep it aside.
  4. In the remaining oil, sputter mustard and add curry leaves.
  5. Sauté shallots and onions till they turn golden brown.
  6. Add ingredients no: 6, sauté well and add ingredients no: 7.
  7. Add duck pieces and tomato, and sauté the contents.
  8. Add salt, pepper and a little water and reduce the flame.
  9. Cook till duck pieces are well-cooked, and the water content is fully absorbed.
  10. Gravy should fully cover the duck pieces.
