Kaattu Koottaan

yam curry

Ingredients for Kaattu Koottaan:

1. Elephant yam – 300 gram

2. Salt – For taste

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

3. Red chillies – 2

    Coconut scrapped – 5 big spoons

4. Coconut oil – 3 big spoons

5. Mustard – ¼ small spoon

    Red chillies – 2

    Curry leaves – 2 stems

How to prepare Kaattu Koottaan?

1. Remove the skin of yam, clean it and cut into square pieces.

2. Cook yam adding salt, turmeric powder and water.

3. Dry fry two red chillies.

4. Make a fine paste of coconut and these two chillies.

5. Add this gravy to cooked yam and stir well.

6. Cook the contents till gravy is well cooked and curry thickens.

7. Temper ingredients no: 5 using coconut oil and add to curry.
