Kaattu Koottaan - yam curry

Ingredients for Kaattu Koottaan:

1. Elephant yam – 300 gram

2. Salt – For taste

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

3. Red chillies – 2

    Coconut grated – 5 big spoons

4. Coconut oil – 3 big spoons

5. Mustard – ¼ small spoon

    Red chillies – 2

    Curry leaves – 2 stems

How to prepare Kaattu Koottaan?

1. Remove the skin of yam, clean it and cut into square pieces.

2. Cook the yam, adding salt, turmeric powder, and water.

3. Dry fry two red chillies.

4. Make a fine paste of coconut and these two chillies.

5. Add this gravy to the cooked yam and stir well.

6. Cook the contents till the gravy is well-cooked and the curry thickens.

7. Temper ingredients no: 5 using coconut oil and add to the curry.
