Jackfruit Halwa (Chakka Pazham Halwa)

Ingredients for Jackfruit Halwa (Chakka Pazham Halwa) Recipe 1:

1. Jack fruit cut into small pieces – 250 gm

2. Coconut scrapped – 3

3. Rice powder – 50 gm

4. Maida – 200g

5. Jaggery – ½ kg

    Water – ¼ cup

6. Ghee – As required

7. Cashew nuts fried – 100 gm

    Almonds fried – 25 gm

    Cardamom and cloves – 3 each

How to prepare Jackfruit Halwa (Chakka Pazham Halwa) Recipe 1?

1. Cook jackfruit in a cooker adding sufficient water and smash well.

2. Melt jaggery adding ¼ cup water and filter it if needed.

3. After taking first coconut milk from three coconuts, make second milk adding three cups of water.

4. Mix 50 gm rice powder in a little second milk and pour to a heated urli little by little. Keep stirring.

5. Mix maida in the remaining second milk, and pour to urli and keep stirring.

6. Heat in low flame till the content boils well, and add jaggery solution.

7. Mix the contents well and keep stirring.

8. Now you can add ghee little by little.

9. When jackfruit halwa is almost done, pour first coconut milk and mix well.

10. Now add cashews, almonds, cardamom and cloves, mix the halwa well and put the flame off.

11. Apply ghee to a plate and spread halwa to it.

12. Once it turns cold, you can cut into desired shapes.

Ingredients for Jackfruit Halwa (Chakka Halwa) Recipe 2:

1. Jackfruit (not over ripen) – ½ kg (after removing seeds)

2. Sugar – 2 cups

    Water – ½ cup

3. Ghee – 1 cup

4. Milk – 1 cup

5. Milk – 1 big spoon

    Jalebi colour – A pinch

6. Cardamom powder – ½ small spoon

7. Cashews broken – ½ cup

How to prepare Jackfruit Halwa (Chakka Halwa) Recipe 2?

1. Steam cook jackfruit and then make a fine paste.

2. Boil water along with sugar till it dissolves completely.

3. Add jackfruit paste, ¼ cup ghee and 1/4 cup milk and stir it well.

4. Add remaining ¾ cup ghee in three intervals and keep stirring.

5. When contents start thickening, mix colour with milk and add to add to halwa.

6. Add cardamom powder too.

7. When the contents turn soft, add half quantity of cashews and mix well.

8. Transfer jackfruit halwa to a greased tray and spread the remaining cashews on its top.

9. Using a spoon press the halwa, and level the contents.

10. Halwa should have the constituency to rava kesari, and should not turn harder.
