Fish Peera Puttu + Fish Peera (Meen Peera Puttu + Meen Peera)

 

Meen Peera Puttu

Ingredients for Meen Peera Puttu:

 
1. Puttu powder – 1 kg
    Water – 600 milli
    Salt – As required
2. Fish of any small type cooked and minced after removing its spine – 250 g
3. Coconut oil – 2 small spoons
4. Green chillies finely chopped – ½ tsp
    Shallots finely chopped – 2 small spoons
    Curry leaves finely chopped – 1 pinch
5. Coconut scrapped – 1 full
6. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
    Salt – As required
 

How to prepare Meen Peera Puttu (Fish Peera Puttu)?

 
1. Mix all ingredients listed under no: 1 to prepare puttu powder.
2. Heat coconut oil in a non-stick pan and sauté ingredients no: 4.
3. Add the prepared fish, salt, scrapped coconut and turmeric powder to the pan and mix well.
4. Keep puttu maker (puttu kutti) in the steam for a while and put two teaspoon of Meen Peera Koottu into it.
5. Then add a little puttu powder and continue the process to form a few layers of puttu and meen peera.
6. Cook in steam to prepare Meen peera puttu and serve it hot aside Meen Peera.
 

Ingredients for Meen Peera (Fish Peera):

 
1. Prawns – ½ kg
2. Fenugreek seeds – ¼ tsp
    Red chillies – 4
3. Onions sliced – ¼ cup
    Ginger finely chopped – ¼ tsp
    Garlic finely chopped – ¼ tsp
4. Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
5. Salt – As required
6. Coconut scrapped – ¼ cup
    Shallots – ¼ cup
   Green chillies – 4
7. Kudam Puli – 5 cloves
8. Curry leaves – 2 stalks
9. Coconut oil – 5 small spoons
 

How to prepare Meen Peera (Fish Peera)?

 
1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ingredients no: 2. Then add ingredients no: 3 and sauté again.
2. Add turmeric powder and cleaned prawns to it and cook well adding sufficient water and required salt.
3. Gently crush ingredients no: 6 in a mixer and add to cooked prawns.
4. Also add kudam puli, close the lid and cook well to prepare Chemmeen Peera (Prawns Peera).
5. Add coconut oil and put the flame off.
6. Also add fresh curry leaves, mix well and serve aside Meen Puttu.

    haha, i remember, once while interacting through boddunan forum i started a thread on breakfast dishes. at tht time u gt scared with the tube like picture of steamcake… puttu. u wondered what it is 🙂
