Dal – Prawns Curry recipe

Ingredients for Dal – Prawns Curry (Paripp – Chemmeen Curry):

  1. Sambar dal (Pigeon pea) – 100 gm
  2. Ginger – 1 small piece, crushed
    Garlic – 6 cloves
    Tomato – 1, chopped
    Green chillies – 3
    Cumin powder – ¾ small spoon
    Chilli powder – 1 small spoon
    Turmeric powder – ¾ small spoon
    Salt and water – As needed
  3. Cleaned prawns – 100 gms
    Curry leaves – As needed
    Coriander leaves – As needed
  4. Shallots – 4, chopped
  5. Ghee/Coconut oil – As needed

How to prepare Dal – Prawns Curry (Paripp – Chemmeen Curry)?

  1. Cook pigeon peas along with ingredients no: 2 using a pressure cooker. 2 whistles are sufficient.
  2. When pressure drops to zero, add ingredients no: 3 and cook for 1 whistle.
  3. Fry shallots in ghee or coconut oil and add to your curry.
