
Ingredients for Curd Chicken (Thayiru Kozhi):
- Chicken – 500 grams
- Thick curd – 1 cup
Salt – For taste
Cumin powder – One small spoon
Turmeric powder – Half a small spoon
Chilli powder – Half a small spoon
Kashmiri chilli powder – One small spoon
Ginger-garlic paste – Two big spoons
Pepper powder – Half a small spoon - Oil – One big spoon
- Cloves – 4
Bay leaf – 1
Green cardamom – 2
Cinnamon – 1-inch piece - Onions – 2, chopped small
- Salt and Pepper powder – As needed
- Green chilli – 1, crushed
Kasuri methi – One small spoon, fried and powdered - Chopped coriander leaves – 1 big spoon
How to prepare Curd Chicken (Thayiru Kozhi)?
- Clean the chicken and cut it into small pieces.
- Mix ingredients no: 2 and marinate chicken pieces. Allow it to rest for half an hour.
- Heat a thick-bottomed pan and add oil. Fry ingredients number 4.
- Add onions and saute until they turn golden brown.
- Take the pan from the stove and add the marinated chicken pieces to it. Mix it well.
- Close it with a lid and place it back in the stove.
- Cook chicken for 20 minutes on a low flame. Check occasionally and stir the contents if needed.
- When the chicken is well-cooked and the gravy thickens, a thin layer of oil forms on the surface.
- Add Salt and Pepper if needed, and mix well.
- Add ingredients no: 7 to it, stir well and cook for 1 minute.
- Put off the flame and add coriander leaves.
