Thayiru Kozhi

Ingredients for Curd Chicken (Thayiru Kozhi):

  1. Chicken – 500 grams
  2. Thick curd – 1 cup
    Salt – For taste
    Cumin powder – One small spoon
    Turmeric powder – Half a small spoon
    Chilli powder – Half a small spoon
    Kashmiri chilli powder – One small spoon
    Ginger-garlic paste – Two big spoons
    Pepper powder – Half a small spoon
  3. Oil – One big spoon
  4. Cloves – 4
    Bay leaf – 1
    Green cardamom – 2
    Cinnamon – 1-inch piece
  5. Onions – 2, chopped small
  6. Salt and Pepper powder – As needed
  7. Green chilli – 1, crushed
    Kasuri methi – One small spoon, fried and powdered
  8. Chopped coriander leaves – 1 big spoon

How to prepare Curd Chicken (Thayiru Kozhi)?

  1. Clean the chicken and cut it into small pieces.
  2. Mix ingredients no: 2 and marinate chicken pieces. Allow it to rest for half an hour.
  3. Heat a thick-bottomed pan and add oil. Fry ingredients number 4.
  4.  Add onions and saute until they turn golden brown.
  5. Take the pan from the stove and add the marinated chicken pieces to it. Mix it well.
  6. Close it with a lid and place it back in the stove.
  7. Cook chicken for 20 minutes on a low flame. Check occasionally and stir the contents if needed.
  8. When the chicken is well-cooked and the gravy thickens, a thin layer of oil forms on the surface.
  9. Add Salt and Pepper if needed, and mix well.
  10. Add ingredients no: 7 to it, stir well and cook for 1 minute.
  11. Put off the flame and add coriander leaves.
