Chembu Podithooval (Colacasia Podithooval)

Ingredients for Chembu Podithooval:

1. Colacasia – 350 gm

2. Salt – For taste

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

    Tamarind juice – 3.5 small spoons

3. Parboiled rice (Puzhukkalari) – 2 small spoons

    Red chillies – 2

    Asafoetida powder – ¼ small spoon

4. Coconut oil – 4 small spoons

5. Mustard – ¼ small spoon

    Urud dal – ¼ small spoon

    Curry leaves – A stem

How to prepare Chembu Podithooval?

1. Peel of the skin of colocasia and cut into 1-inch square pieces.

2. Cook chopped colocasia adding ingredients no: 2 and water.

3. Drain off excess water, once it is done.

4. Dry fry ingredients no: 3 in a pan and blend it well in a mixer. Never make a fine powder.

5. Add this powder to cooked colocasia, cook well and put off the flame.

6. Fry ingredients no: 5 in hot oil and add to dish.

7. You can also decorate Podithooval adding a little more fried curry leaves and fried red chillies.
