Aval Mixture

Ingredients for Aval Mixture:

1. Bengal gram (Kada Paripp) – ¼ cup

2. Rice flakes – 1 cup

3. Oil – As needed

4. Coconut – 2 big spoons, sliced into small pieces

    Cashews full – ¼ cup

    Peanut – 2 big spoons

5. Potato – 1 medium sized, sliced into 1-inch thin pieces (match stick like)

6. Sugar powdered – 1 big spoon

    Salt – As needed

    Chilli powder – 1 small spoon

7. Oil – 1 small spoon

8. Mustard – 1 small spoon

9. Green chillies – 2, chopped fine

    Curry leaves – 6 stalks

10. Turmeric powder – 1 small spoon

      Asafoetida powder – ½ small spoon

How to prepare Aval Mixture?

1. Soak Bengal gram in water for 6-8 hours.

2. Strain water using a cloth.

3. Fry rice flakes and Bengal gram in a kadai without adding oil.

4. Heat oil and fry ingredients no: 4.

5. In the remaining oil, add potato. If needed, add extra oil.

6. Fry potato pieces and remove from oil.

7. Take all fried items in a bowl and add ingredients no: 6.

8. Heat a small spoon of oil, add mustard.

9. When mustard sputters, add green chillies and curry leaves.

10. Put off the flame and add ingredients no: 10.

11. Mix well and add to Aval mixture bowl.

12. Mix again and allow it to cool completely.

13. Store in air-tight containers.
