Sahil Vaid – Bollywood actor who played Sushant’s pal in ‘Dil Bechara’

Sahil Vaid is a popular character artist associated with Bollywood films, who plays comic shades. His supporting roles in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Dil Bechara were well received. In both these films he played best friend to the lead actor. Bittoo Boss, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Bank Chor and The Zoya Factor are other popular roles. He is a busy dubbing artist too. He has dubbed a couple of English Tv series to Hindi, a few animated series and a bunch of Hollywood and south Indian films.

Professional stage actor since 1997

Sahil Vaid hails from Salem, Tamil Nadu, and was born in 1986. He studied from Whistling Woods International, and started his professional career as a stage actor in 1997. Since then he has been associated with this profession. 2012 Hindi comedy film, Bittoo Boss directed by Supavitra Babul marked his acting debut in a supporting role. He came to limelight after portraying Poplu in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, co-starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

A permanent fixture in ‘Dulhaniya’ series

After gaining initial recognition through Poplu in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, he reprised the role of Poplu in its sequel, Badrinath Ki Dulhania as well, and both these films were commercial hits. He was later seen in Bank Chor, Manto, Dil Bechara etc. His heart warming role as Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend in Dil Bechara is memorable. In the film he played a cancer patient who loses his eye sight, but completes the dream to make one movie, with the help of lead pair.

1. He played uncredited roles in 2010 unreleased film – Happi and 2011 release – Ye Stupid Pyar, before he got his first break through Bittoo Boss in 2012.

2. He studied Mass Communication after school.

3. Varun Sharma’s character in Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dilwale‘ was first offered to him. He rejected the role because he felt it repetitive.

4. Shanky and Shaggy are his pet names, which his close ones use to call him.

5. He loves pets, especially cats.
