End note: In the song (movie released in 1999), it’s shown as the function is arranged to congratulate Prakash Mathew, an upcoming singer who won TV singing reality show, Meri Awaaz Suno. In reality, India’s first ever reality show, Meri Awaaz Suno was conducted by Doordarshan during 1996 and its male winner was of course a Malayali, Pradeep Somasundaram from Thrissur. The female winner was Sunidhi Chauhan, who later became a leading female voice of Hindi cinema music.

*Niram was remade to Hindi as Tujhe Meri Kasam, which marked the Bollywood debut of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza. They started dating and got married later.
