Praveen Sattaru is a critically acclaimed filmmaker who works in Telugu film industry. He is also a film producer and screenwriter. The anthology film, Chandamama Kathalu released in 2014 is his best work up-to-date which won National award for best regional film. Spy-thriller PSV Garuda Vega is his most expensive project till now, which was a commercial success as well as won critics’ appreciation. His adult comedy, Guntur Talkies was also a commercial hit, though it received negative reviews.
Praveen Sattaru – Telugu Film Director
Praveen hails from Vizianagaram. He worked in s/w filed in US for 10 years before switching to films. He marked his directorial debut with Life before Wedding: LBW in 2011. Routine Love Story, Chandamama Kathalu, Guntur Talkies and PSV Garuda Vega are his other released projects. Currently he is working on an untitled biopic of the legendary badminton player Pullela Gopichand and also co-directing Netflix series Baahubali: Before the Beginning aside Deva Katta.
Praveen Sattaru – Some interesting facts
1. Praveen was working as a SAP consultant in IBM for about 10 years before he joined the film industry.
2. Most of his projects have been far away from the conventions of Telugu cinema, and his mental status at a particular point of time deeply reflects in his project at that time. For instance, from a National award-winning film, he switched to an adult comedy.
3. Chandamama Kathalu received negative reviews from critics, but it went on to win best Telugu film at the National Film Awards. But it was not accepted by the public and turned into a box office failure.
4. He is an Indo-American.
