Olan for Vishu Sadya

Ingredients for Olan for Vishu Sadya:

  1. Red beans (Vanpayar) – ½ cup, soaked
  2. Long beans cut into ¾ inch pieces – ½ cup
    White gourd chopped into ¾ inch square pieces, after removing seeds and skin – ¾ cup
    Pumpkin cut into ¾ inch square pieces, after removing seeds and skin – ¾ cup
    Green chillies – 2, chopped
    Curry leaves – 1 stalk
  3. Coconut milk, second extract – ¾ cup
  4. Coconut milk, first extract – ½ cup
  5. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons
  6. Salt – As required

How to prepare Olan for Vishu Sadya?

  1. Add salt to the red beans and cook them well.
  2. Cook ingredients no: 2 in the second extract of coconut oil.
  3.  Add cooked red beans to it and reduce the flame. Close the container with a lid.
  4. Add ingredients no: 4, 5, and 6 to it one by one, mix well, and take it off the flame.
