Nendrakka Curry (Raw Banana Curry)

This is a coconut based curry and tastes best with rice.

Ingredients for Nendrakka Curry (Raw Banana Curry):

1. Raw banana – 2

2. Shallots – ½ cup

    Green chillies – 4

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Coconut – 1, scrapped

    Ginger chopped fine – 2 small spoons

    Garlic chopped fine – 2 small spoons

    Fennel seeds – ¼ small spoon

    Pepper – ¼ small spoon

3. Oil – 3 big spoons

4. Onions – 1, sliced lengthwise

5. Curry leaves – 2 stems

    Red chilli powder – 1 small spoon

    Coriander powder – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – 1/4 small spoon

6. Tamarind juice – 2 big spoons

7. Tomato – 1, chopped

8. Salt – For taste

How to prepare Nendrakka Curry (Raw Banana Curry)?

1. Peel off the skin of raw banana and chop thin in a slanting way.

2. Make a fine paste of ingredients no: 2.

3. Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions.

4. Add curry leaves, chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.

5. Keep frying till raw smell goes out.

6. Add raw banana along with 1.5 cups of water and cook in low flame for 5 minutes.

7. Add gravy and cook the curry till banana pieces are 3/4th done.

8. Add tomato pieces, salt and tamarind juice, mix it well and put off the flame.
