This is a coconut based curry and tastes best with rice.

Raw Banana Curry recipe

Ingredients for Nendrakka Curry (Raw Banana Curry):

1. Raw banana – 2

2. Shallots – ½ cup

    Green chillies – 4

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Coconut – 1, grated

    Ginger chopped fine – 2 small spoons

    Garlic chopped fine – 2 small spoons

    Fennel seeds – ¼ small spoon

    Pepper – ¼ small spoon

3. Oil – 3 big spoons

4. Onions – 1, sliced lengthwise

5. Curry leaves – 2 stems

    Red chilli powder – 1 small spoon

    Coriander powder – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – 1/4 small spoon

6. Tamarind juice – 2 big spoons

7. Tomato – 1, chopped

8. Salt – For taste

How to prepare Nendrakka Curry (Raw Banana Curry)?

1. Peel off the skin of the raw banana and chop them thin in a slanting way.

2. Make a fine paste of ingredients no: 2.

3. Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions.

4. Add curry leaves, chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.

5. Keep frying till the raw smell goes out.

6. Add raw banana along with 1.5 cups of water and cook on a low flame for 5 minutes.

7. Add gravy and cook the curry till the banana pieces are 3/4th done.

8. Add tomato pieces, salt and tamarind juice, mix it well and turn off the flame.
