North Indian Samosa


Samosa is a 4 O’ Clock dish equally loved by all. Though it is a North Indian snack, it’s equally popular in South India also. Though vegetable fillings such as potato, carrot, beetroot etc are used, very often chicken fillings are also used. Read to know how North Indians prepare Samosa dish.

 

Ingredients for North Indian Samosa:

 
1. Maida – 1.5 cups
    Oil – 2 big spoons
    Salt – As per taste
    Ajwain (Ayamodakam) – ¼ tsp
2. Oil – 2 small spoons
3. Ginger – garlic paste – 1 big spoon
4. Green peas cooked – ¼ cup
    Potato cooked and smashed – ¼ kg
5. Cumin powder – ½ tsp
    Chilli powder – ½ tsp
    Amchoor (Dried Mango seed powder) – 1 small spoon
    Salt – As per taste
    Oil – To fry
    Coriander leaves finely chopped – 2 small spoons 
 

How to prepare North Indian Samosa?

 
1. Mix all ingredients no: 1 and make dough. Place a moisture cloth on its top and keep aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ginger-garlic paste.
3. When it turns brown add ingredients no: 5 and cook for 3-4 minutes.
4. Add ingredients no: 5 and cook for 5 more minutes before turning the flame off. Allow the contents to cool.
5. Make the dough to six equal pieces.
6. Make chappathis from dough with 4-inch diameter. Then cut into two pieces.
7. Place the filling inside each piece and cover it fully.
8. Heat oil and fry each samosa till golden brown. Serve hot with any sauce of your choice.
