Likith Shetty – Kannada actor and the hero of most successful Tulu film till date, ‘Oriyardori Asal’

Likith Shetty is a TV anchor turned film actor who works in Kannada and Tulu language films. He anchored a couple of TV shows on Kannada television, U2 Bakra – a prank show (2007-2010) and Ogaraney Dabbi, a cookery show (2010-2011) before foraying into acting through Kannada movie, Parole in 2010. Since then he has appeared in 4 more films predominantly in Kannada language. He is the hero of most successful Tulu film till date, ‘Oriyardori Asal’ (2011) which completed 300 days of theatre run. The actor is still best known for this role, and he was paired with Ramya Barna for this comedy film.

Likith Shetty was born in 1989 in Arsikere, Karnataka. As he wanted to pursue a career in acting, he enrolled at Navarasa school of Art, Bangalore and completed a diploma in theatre. In 2007 he started his career as a TV anchor through Udaya TV’s U2 Bakra, followed by Ogaraney Dabbi, which opened him doors towards cinema world. Joined film industry in 2010, Parole (2010), Nam Duniya Nam Style (2013) and Sankashta Kara Ganapathi (2018) are his Kannada releases till now. Madime (2014) and mega blockbuster Oriyardori Asal are his Tulu releases.

He has been a part of ensemble cast and has also been casted as solo hero in movies. Sankashta Kara Ganapathi marked his debut as a solo hero in Kannada cinema, after playing parallel lead and ensemble cast roles. The film which dealt with the theme of Alien Hand Syndrome, where the person loses control over his hand, received favourable reviews from critics. He played the role of a struggling cartoonist in the movie, which was a box office hit.

1. He was doing studies in interior designing when he juggled with his television career.

2. Since young he wanted to become an actor and loved both action and romantic films. Puneeth Rajkumar is his favourite hero.

3. Apart from films, he also owns a successful business career for the past few years. He runs a restaurant chain in Bangalore.

4. He was 21 years old when he marked his screen debut.

5. He waited for long 11 years to mark his debut as a solo hero in Kannada, and it was something like his dreams finally came true.

6. He just wants to do good films, and not in a hurry. It’s one major reason why he appeared in only 5 movies in a decade old career in films.

7. He is very successful in Tulu cinema. His debut film Oriyardori Asal ran 300 days in theatre and his second release Madime ran 100 days.
