Kudappan – Payar Thoran (Banana Floret – Green Gram Thoran)
Ingredients for Kudappan – Payar Thoran (Banana Floret – Green Gram Thoran):
1. Green gram – 1 cup
2. Banana Floret (Kudappan/Vaazha Koomb) – 1
3. Coconut scrapped – 5 tablespoons
Green chillies – 4
Garlic – 4 cloves
Shallots – 2
Cumin seeds – A pinch
Turmeric powder – A pinch
4. Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons
5. Mustard – 1 tsp
How to prepare Kudappan – Payar Thoran (Banana Floret – Green Gram Thoran)?
1. Cook green gram adding sufficient water. Don’t overcook it.
2. Chop banana floret, add a little oil and manually mix it well.
3. Blend ingredients no: 3 together in a mixer for thoran.
4. Heat oil and sputter mustard.
5. Add coconut mixture and sauté for a while.
6. Add banana floret and salt, and sauté till it’s almost cooked.
7. Add green gram on the top and close the lid.
8. After 3 minutes, open the lid and mix all contents together.
9. Water content should be fully absorbed.
