Sarim Momin – Bollywood filmmaker and lyricist known for his association with Ram Gopal Varma
Sarim Momin is a film maker, screen writer and lyricist associated with Bollywood. He has penned lyrics for numerous Ram Gopal Varma films, including the controversial ‘Jana Gann Mana Rann Hai’ song for Rann. He is married to Gauri Karnik, film and television actress, best known for playing the female lead in Bollywood film, “Sur: The Melody of Love”.
Sarim Momin was born in Mumbai in year 1978. Initially he wrote Urdu poems before choosing movies as his profession. Later he wrote lyrics for many movies, scripted films and also turned a director. Arzi marked his debut as a director, and he scripted the movie as well. The movie won three Awards in the Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival, held at Los Angeles in best film, actor and actress categories.
His association with Ram Gopal Varma began with ‘D’. Since then he regularly worked with him. He penned lyrics for Ram Gopal Varma movies such as Sarkar, Darling, Rakhtcharitra, Rann etc. His songs are also included in the movies – Bhagam Baag, Agyaat, GO, EMI, Hide & Seek etc. Some of his noted songs are Aa Khushi Se Khudkushi from Bhagam Bhag, Ankhon Hi Ankhon Mein from EMI and the title track of Sarkar.

5. He wrote the controversial song, ‘Jana Gann Mana Rann Hai’, by inserting ‘Rann’ in the national anthem.
